Stelrad launches innovative wall bracket

In line with our continuous aim for innovation and improvement, Stelrad has been looking for opportunities to minimise the predictable risks with regard to the environment in which a radiator is mounted. In that respect, the current L brackets no longer meet our strict standards.

No skating on thin ice

With this ambition in mind, Stelrad launched an extensive needs assessment survey in several countries. The brackets were developed based on the survey outcome. Subsequently, Stelrad took these brackets to a few professional fairs, where customers were given the chance to study and evaluate the different brackets.

Inspection organisation

The safety of the new wall brackets was not just demonstrated by our own tests and customer reactions. Official bodies also subjected the brackets to a thorough inspection. The Inspection Authority TÜV Rheinland judged that the new wall brackets meet the German VDI standard 6036 class 3. This means that the wall brackets also effectively ensure safety in public spaces, where the risk of improper use of the radiator is higher than in private situations (class 1 and 2).

Easy installation

The new wall bracket does not only guarantee more safety, it can also be fastened in an extremely simple and efficient manner. No hassle with separate saddle clips or anti-lift clips. The locking mechanism is integrated in the head of the bracket. The new wall bracket is, just like the known L bracket, a lug-2-lug bracket. This means the bracket supports the radiator at the bottom in the bottom row of welded-on lugs. At the top, the head of the bracket clamps the top row of welded-on strips. In order to guarantee extra safety, the head can be tightened. The VDI compliant wall bracket (Monclac) is compatible with all horizontal panel radiators with welded-on strips with a height between 300 and 900 mm.

Impact on our products

Since April 1st, Stelrad has been delivering all horizontal panel radiators with welded-on strips (with the exception of the Novello and plinth radiators). From 1st July 2016, during the next phase, the current L bracket will be replaced by the new VDI compliant wall bracket (Monclac). For most products, this is an adjustment of the supplied bracket. If no screws and plugs were supplied, this will be the case now.
Below you will find an overview of the different product groups and their modifications following the new wall bracket.

From Compact to Compact All In

From 1st July 2016, all Stelrad Compact radiators will be delivered with all the necessary accessories to mount the radiator. An air vent, blind plug, screws, plugs and the new VDI compliant wall brackets (Monclac). That is also the reason why we will name the radiator “Compact All In” from then on.
The article numbers of the current Compact without strips (0211xxxxxx) and of the Compact with strips (0213xxxxxx) shall be discontinued and will be replaced by the Stelrad Compact All In (0214xxxxxx).

Novello ECO, delivered with brackets inside the package

After 1st July 2016, the Novello ECO will also be delivered with VDI compliant wall brackets (Monclac), screws and plugs. If today they are delivered outside the package or even not at all, Stelrad is now resolutely going for uniformity. All encased panel radiators with welded-on strips will be delivered from July 2016 onwards with the same VDI compliant wall bracket (Monclac) in the packaging.

Kind regards
